First Jeep

Hello All,

Took home my first American car ever yesterday and its a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Sold my 2013 Audi S4 for it, so this is quite the change.

I'm a big European car guy at heart, but I wanted something a bit slower to drive on a daily basis. I found the a lot of the slower cars felt cheap too: Civics, Mazda 3, etc. The Jeep is slow, but purposeful, not cheap and tinny, the doors still close with a solid thunk. I loved it from the first test drive.

My weekend / fair weather car is going to feel a hell of a lot faster now, which is exactly what I was looking for.

The new Jeep:

The weekend toy: (2013 Golf R with a 5 cylinder 2.5L big turbo engine swap)

I'm looking forward to finding places to use the Jeep off road. If anyone around MA knows any good beginner trails, I'd love to meet up and have a look. I've got a lot to learn.

No immediate plans for the Jeep other than a bunch of lights for the front end. It seems the Rubicon has enough gear to keep me learning for some time.

Thanks for reading, looking forward to reading / learning.

Cheers.

My JK replaced my S4 also, mine was a stage 2 plus B5 S4.

Good looking Golf R, I really dig those.

Thanks everyone.

Been doing a bunch of research on lights, mounts and some audio stuff.

So far I've ordered the following:
  • sPOD for JK
  • Engo 50" LED bar + mount
  • Rigid Ind Dually D2 Driving lights with matching A pillar mounts
  • KC 8" HID 35 watt with pencil beam pattern + matching front bumper mounts

The one station I care to listen to is on HD radio, so I need to find an aftermarket solution. So far, I've not found any head units that I like. Thinking about waiting for this unit here. I am rather disappointed with the midrange sound quality, I don't think its related to the speakers themselves but more so the head unit.

Since I'm looking at units without nav, do you all have any suggestions for good stand-alone nav units for use in a Jeep. Are there any units that have decent coverage of paper / logging roads?

I am also looking for a winch for the stock bumper, if that's possible. Your suggestions for those + tow straps would be greatly appreciated!

My other car is a Mustang GT so Ive got something a little quick for a DD.
I just got my jeep pretty recently too and ive loved it so far, even though I have a few issues to work out (death wobble).

Well if your looking for a deck like that. I'd just get one with nav then get a small stand alone nav. Or just get a nice deck that does HD radio and blue tooth and such and save that money
