AEV Snorkel Knockoff

Has anybody tried this one from Amazon? About $200 cheaper. Just wanted to know if it was worth it.

yup works awesome....have had mine submerged to the windshield cowl with no issues at all. Just take your time and really apply the silicone thoroughly inside and out where it connects to the air box.

I personally wouldn't buy and install a knock off product to save a buck.

Because I'd rather buy one that's made right here in the states rather than a knockoff one made over seas.

However, I don't care who does what with their money. I just won't.

Also, you might buy the genuine item to reward the people who spent the time (= money) to develop a quality product, build prototypes, revise the design, and take the financial risk to have production tooling made (that shit's not cheap) after the prototype phase was compete, rather than rewarding the back-stabbing dick bags that copied someone else's hard work and may or may not have changed it enough to avoid being sued for patent infringement.

But I don't have any strong feelings on the subject . . .

Opinions vary. I hope you get exactly what you paid for.

You might want to take some Chinese lessons so you can talk to your new boss . . .

. . . and if his English is good, get used to putting a second "o" in "too".

I just had this conversation today with a customer at our shop. He was looking at the ARB though and we were discussing the ebay China knockoffs. The fact is that the made in China snorkels are hugely inferior. There are no moving parts, but the plastic is cheap and degrades quickly. The good reviews that you see out there are from people that have just installed them and there are very few people that review them long term. I can tell you from seeing the knockoff after a year that the plastic is faded, cracked brittle and isn't worth the effort to install it.

He works hard for his money and didn't want to buy the cheap product that wasn't going to last.

Yes they are. Pretty much every alloy wheel on the market is these days. Only ones I can think of off the top of my head that aren't are Weld wheels, Raceline forged wheels and some American Eagle ones.

You're quick to misspell "you're" and "bigot", and your punctuation leaves something to be desired, but I'm not getting paid to make you a better person.

I am unaware of any trace of bigotry in any comments I have made on JKO, but I welcome your feedback if you actually have a point.
My signature line is an attempt to illustrate the consequences of buying solely imported goods, as our greatest trade deficit is with China.
Domestic production is not only an economic issue - it is a matter of national security.

And no, I was not a hall monitor in high school - I spent all my time in auto shop when I wasn't acing other classes.

And you can keep your women.

AEV wheels are made in China, as were the factory Moabs on my Rubicon.

FYI, Trail Ready beadlocks are cast and machined in the USA, and that's one of the reasons I have them.

Slightly off topic but I have to ask, when you submerge your jk, does it leak bad inside? I assume that the inside would flood as well so i worry about my electronics.

That was my first thought.
My second thought revolved around having to buy it twice...so much for saving a buck.
And who's gonna warranty that POS knock-off?

My "non American made" snorkel is over a year and a half old and looks like the day it was installed. The plastic is definitely not cheap and is actually very thick and durable as heck. Have wheeled it through all weather conditions and many thick trails. Other than a few little pin stripes from branches I am extremely happy with my $100 snorkel

Nah...no fluke, 4 guys in my club bought the same snorkel and none of us have had any issues. Besides if it broke I could by 3 of these for the price of the AEV one
