2012+ Interior

Hey folks! Just wondering how difficult it would be to swap out the interior on my 2013 JK Unlimited? I have the all black leather interior including door surrounds, seats, glove box, etc. I really wanted the brown interior but couldn't find one setup that way... Would it be a crazy PITA to swap them out?

Seats would be simple, and the center console probably not too bad either. Door stuff should be easy too.
The dash would probably suck though.

I dont have any experience with the jeep interior, so take my word for what its worth. Ive had the seats, door panels, and center console out of my mustang and it was a breeze, but Ive been putting off fixing one of my AC vents for months now just because Id have to take the dash apart.

If you do the swap and want to sell your black stuff PM me. If I can find some more info about converting my 2007 to the new interior I would be interested.

I think more people want black, probably find a brown interior to swap with.

That's what I am hoping if it isn't to difficult... I can do almost anything on the outside of a Jeep but I hate tiny plastic pieces and anything that has to do with electronics.

I think your money would be better spent elsewhere.
If you didn't like the interior why buy the Jeep in the first place?

FYI: I just traded my 2012 for a 2013 JKR; both with Saddle Leather interior.

The seats in the 2013 are WAY better than in the 2012: they are more contoured, have more padding, and are just more comfortable.

It was the least of my worries at the time... Just never been into an all black Jeep... Also wasn't looking to spend much if any on the swap. Hopefully someone has the brown and wants the black...

Didn't know the 12's and 13's were different... Good to know... Why did you trade a 12 for a 13 ?

Yes, the seats in the 2012 are shaped flatter, more like in 2007-11 JKs.

Leather seats first appeared as a factory option in 2012, but they looked like the stock fabric seats that had been re-finished by an aftermarket leather shop like Katzkin. The seats in 2013+ JKs have more cushion and side bolstering, the leather feels softer to the touch, and the Sahara/Rubicon logo is elegantly embroidered onto the seat.

My 2012 was a stick-shift; my 2013 is an automatic. I love the manual 6-speed but need an auto so my parents can drive it too.

If you were close to south Louisiana I'd swap the interior out of my wife's '12 Rubicon Unlimited. As long as you find someone with the same options (i.e. seat heaters, seat airbags, etc.) it should be straight forward.

I would search for write ups/videos on taking the dash panels off. Sometimes there is just a trick to them (pull this way and they pop right off, pull that way and you break all the clips). If you can't find anything on the Jeep boards you might find what you need on car audio boards.
