BigMike's 2014 2D JKR Build

I took delivery on 11/21/13. I started wrenching on it the next day.

First order of business, ditch the rear seat.

Next up, install the Vector Offroad UFO's

Wrangler decal delete (J E E P decal to be installed later)

Don't say that you haven't been warned

Tuffy Console Insert

Surprise Straps

Some poser shots before installing the lift.

Day 2

Install Metal Cloak 2.5" lift (front). There was a mix up in the boxes and they sent 3.5" springs. I'll be swapping them out in a week or so and will post up pictures for comparison.

Pro Comp 17x9 7069 wheels, Goodyear MTR Kevlar 35x12.50-17

Day 4

Metal Cloak install (rear) I didn't get any pictures because I was working alone and forgot to take them.

Final result of the lift with 3.5" springs.

Thanksgiving Day

ACE Pro Series Rear Bumper install. I fabbed up some blanking plates for the light provisions because I'm waiting on the lights to come.

12/1/13

ACE Pro Series Front Bumper install. It took about 4 hours. I had to relocate the vacuum pump to under the hood, cut the frame horns and sway link protector bar. Nothing like hacking away at my brand new Jeep with a sawzll.

Next up, Warn M8000 winch is on order and will be here this week. I'll install that next weekend and the 2.5" springs if they are here. Then adjust all of the control arms.

I'm planning on ACE tubular fenders and rock rails but I'm thinking of waiting until doing them after the first of the year.

What size tire are you running? Thinking of going with the MC 2.5" 2 door coils as well.

Looks nice. No sense pussy footing around, dig in and git 'er dun! Graphite is a nice color.

Damn that looks good, especially that color.
Curious to hear your feedback on the OME shocks and the MC coils after a little break-in time.

Nice. Way to hit the ground running. I like your build. Good mix of DD and weekend warrior. Do you have a manual transmission or automatic? How are the 4.10/3.6L with them 35’s?

Looking good Mike!

Once you get the other springs in you need to get it on the rocks.

Thanks. The Goodyear MTR's are really 34" and give me an effective 3.74 gear ratio. For street duty, the 4.10's are great and I don't feel like power was robbed. I'll be able to tell more when I get off-road.

Ha! When it's paid for and it is no longer a DD.

Thanks. I'm going to want to get some armor under it before I hit the rocks. I'll be on the trails a lot though and may venture through some tougher stuff. I want to do some research on armor before making any decisions.

Thanks. When I sold my '09, the back seat had only been sat in once. The wife has a WK2 if I need to haul more than one person.

Thanks.

It has 3.5" all the way around. It should sit level with the 2.5's. If I were going to keep the stock flares, I'd keep the 3.5" lift. But I hate the stock flares and don't want to go to 37's. I also want to keep the center of gravity a bit lower.

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought you had 3.5 up front and 2.5 in the rear. They sent you 3.5 all the way around. My bad. Still looks Great.

I've done a bit more work this past week.

I got the Warn M8000 workhorse winch mounted. Installed the Black Box R series LED lights on the Poison Spyder light mounts. I changed out the RUBICON hood decals to the Rubicon X decals and also installed JEEP decals on the lower part of the front fender. Also installed an AntennaX and Rock Hard spare tire license mount and LED 3rd brake and license plate light.

The big change is that I swapped out the 3.5" springs for the correct 2.5" springs.

300lbs of rear bumper and tire. 150lbs of front bumer and winch.

2.5" lift with the above weight added - I netted 3.25" in the front and 2.25" in the back.

3.5" Springs

2.5" Springs
