Yeah I figure Obama motors will send out the men in black crew to cover this one up and turn it into a urban legend.

Chrysler says it is aware of a small number of alleged fires in China involving the Wrangler but not aware of any U.S. cases.

are they fucking kidding me? I just looked on car-part.com for a part and 3 of the listings out of about 15-18 that came up listed them as fire salvage. I bet there are a couple hundred.

You don't have to worry, because you keep yours in the water anyways.

hmmm I recall at least three, maybe four on other boards/forums over the last two years. All the forums combined would be just a small sampling of the actual total JKs in the US.

WTF is right. I can remember three guys who claimed their jeep spontaneously combusted going down the road. Someone show the fed how to use a search function.
Although, come to think of it the fed is probably the only one better at cleansing the truth than eddie.

There you go. How would they "know" about it if no one told them?

Look at the cooler lines, they are prone to rock hits, track bar smacks etc. Easy to see how the line breaks then spews hot oil all over the catalysts. Poof!

Think I'll get that fire extinguisher tomorrow!

I'm glad I drive a stick. Is this limited to the early 2007-08? I wonder if there were changes to the 09s.

I think the problem is further back around the dip stick and vent tube area. If you look directly below that area you can see the fuel supply and return lines. I think the trany is overheating pushing trans fluid out the vent or possible filler tube hitting the exhaust possible starting small flash fires and melting the fuel lines. I dont know just my opinion.

That's what I've heard as well. Imagine if Chrysler'd have just put a decent transmission cooler in to begin with. I know they make them, the one on my Dakota was great.
