Moab for Thanksgiving?

**Sorry if this is in the wrong section, maybe mods can move the thread to the proper section?**

I've never been to Moab before, and we're going to try and head up for Thanksgiving this year. Planning on stopping for a night or two in Zion on the way up. We'll have a truck with 35' toy hauler behind it, and the Jeep following that.

Since I'm totally unfamiliar with the area, I'm looking for some suggestions on where might be best to stay with the trailer, I tried searching on here and didn't come up with too much other than some great scenery and wheeling pics lol. The girls would like to do some sight seeing, but really looking forward to hitting the trails after years of just reading about them!

Thanks for the help!

Thanksgiving can be a freezy time of year in Moab. The great thing about that - not a lot of people there! But, with that being said, just keep your heads up with your plumbing/tanks.

By that time of year, several of the RV parks are closed down. There are a few that stay open year round - Spanish Trail, Portal, and OK are the ones I remember being open then.

If you are interested in one of the BLM campgrounds along the river, you shouldn't have any problem getting a site if you are there before the Thanksgiving weekend. I am sure you will even be able to get into the first one on 128 - Goose Island. It is cheap and awesome, but mind your fuel supplies while there. If it is real cold, you will want to keep your plumbing warm, which tends to use a lot of propane and 12V resources.

Enjoy!!

We are kicking around showing up on Friday-Sunday.... I'll try to keep up with this thread. Taking my 16 year old and two Jeeps (my JKU and my "Jeep" on 38" tires/tons) if we make it.

Since he's obviously an inexperienced driver, we'll not be doing all kinds of gnarly trails. Just some basics and having fun.
