I have found that the rubber boots serve very well for holding the dirt IN.

x2. They will rot the chrome right off if you don't keep them cleaned out.

Generally speaking shock boots cause more issues than they solve in an off-road environment.

However, there are times that they are useful, I live by the coast and if you run cheap shocks without boots the shafts will get pitted and corroded pretty quickly, causing seal issues and premature failure of the shocks. Using boots prevents this.

No to boots. Moisture and dirt stays on the seals more than without. Splash from a hose on the shocks will clean most everything off...not with boots! It's like wearing shoes on the beach, great idea...until a lick of sand gets in there. There's no getting it out without fuss!

Screw the shock boots, unless your into '80s fashion.

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99 a can. That's almost $7.00 in dog money.

I have been having the front off for a while, i guess because i didnt have to lay on the ground to get em off....lazy sumbitch! Well, i just removed the boots off the rears, and i figured sump'm out. Shock boots are for noobs. Like me, i would bet that most poeple put em on there because they look cool. Anyway, when i cut the rears off, all kinds of rusty watar puked out all over the sleeves of my freshly laundered white long-john shirt (pronounced long-jawn shirt here). Not only that, but one of the shocks is pretty pitted up. So, get rid of some of that noobness, go cut them bitches off.

Usually, when I see shock boots come off, there is lots of rust under there.
