Search function question

Can someone help me regarding the search function.

I'm trying to find threads that pertain to mounting a winch to the stock bumper. I tried a search with the terms "stock bumper winch" and came up with.....oh, I don't know....maybe a gazillion threads with the word stock. Then I tried "stock+bumper+winch" and came up with what appeared to be the same gazillion threads.

I'm not asking you to find me info about installing a winch on the stock bumper, I need someone to tell me what I'm doing wrong in my search efforts. If anyone can help, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

When you put the " " around to words it will only show results that contain BOTH those words so that really helps.

Also, keep in mind that all three of those words are used in every thread on this forum, lol.

Try to imagine what the conversation would be like that you are loking for a pick out a more unique word that might pull it up.

In addition, you could use the advanced search feature and try searching ONLY the sections taht would contain the type of thread you are looking for to narrow results.

I searched: "stock Bumper" winch frame mounted self

and got a single result with some good info. I just picked words I thought might appear in a topic about what you were looking for

Rough Country makes a kit, around $239, to mount a winch to the OEM bumper that I've seen- looks pretty hardy- Mark W.

Back in a '94 YJ! Well, after I sink $$$$ into it...

I always have a hard time with it as well. I tend to just pick one word to search on and I am lucky if I get the search to work at all. I get a bunch of threads listed that I can't even find the word in or I get search results 0.

Good info, but at that price, I'm getting into new bumper territory. I might be better off going that route given the general flimseyness of the OEM bumpers.

Is flimseyness even a word?

Hmmm Stock Bumper... Low cost... I'd try Duct Tape. It might hold as long as you don't try to USE the wench... I mean winch.....
