Stupid AC air button not working

I was out and about in the summer heat today and tried my other air thingy button. It does nothing at all!!! Literally the air temp is the same no matter if it was engaged or not.

I took this pic of the button when I got home. Is there an easy fix for this?

Are your doors off? That button makes no changes to the compressor, it just recycles the air in the cabin. So the theory is that if the compressor cools the air by one degree, the cabin will cool faster becuase you are trying to cool air that has already been adjusted. If your doors are off, then you won't feel a difference in temp.

X2 on the open door question but you should see a light on the button and hear/feel an increase in the air flow. The light could be burnt out but you should still feel the increase in air flow.

It should work with the doors off, however it's 100% pointless.

I'd suggest disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, hooking it back up and try again. Let the module reset.

It's for recirculating the air. When it's not depressed outside air is coming through your vents. When you press it only the cabin air is cooled. It's pointless if the doors are off.

this is true. maybe the jeep engineers set it up not to work if it sensed that the doors were removed. try it with the doors back on and the wiring connected....????

It still "works" with the doors off. It shuts off the outside air to the vents. The reason it's pointless with the doors off is, well, the doors are off!

You need to get your Jeep to the dealer IMMEDIATELY! Do not take the time to put your doors back on! Take it in as is. In fact, do not drive the Jeep, get it towed. It's dangerous to drive when that button malfunctions. I read on the "other forum" that when that button stops working, a wheel could fall off while driving down the highway!

And take WTF_LOL with you. You both could sit at a bar and get hammered while they're working on your Jeep. (Make sure you have a camera handy).

WTF is in Portland so I'll have to do it by myself. Is there a specific type of flat bed I should have tow it away?

BTW, I tried it again. The button is lighting up (like it did yesterday) but it may be working (ďrecirculatingĒ) today. Driving around the neighborhood at 6:30 am this morning the Jeep is noticeably cooler than it was yesterday afternoon (by several degrees). Iíll try it again later and see if itís still working before I call a towing company. Maybe I got lucky and it fixed itself?

Don't be fooled!! On the "other forum", I learned that the button will light up, but it doesn't mean it's working. For some reason, it seems to malfunction between 10am and 6 or 7pm. And those hours vary depending on which part of the country you live in. Weird, I know.

Don't use a flat bed. Get it air lifted. You care about your Jeep, right??

No No No - Air lifted is a bad idea with the doors off! There are b1rds up there! Use Quantum Teleportation! Much Safer you don't have to worry about b1rds hitting your jeep!

Especially when it's 110 deg plus the heat coming off the stupid pavement and all the stupid cars around you... that's how we roll too.

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember how great the AC worked with the "recirc" button depressed (from the manual-cool huh?) at 6 am when we were in Mammoth last winter. Maybe it's time/temp activated?

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but your jeep is totaled. That button can't be fixed. Just call a wrecker and send it straight to the junk yard.

Just make sure there's no fly's in it. That could become one scarrry Jeep.

You need to adjust your drag link so the steering wheel is centered, then the light will go out.

I'm calling BS on that unless you also paint your vent bezels to match the exterior color (must be true, I read it on the "other" forum)...

Wait, isn't that the button you push when you just ripped a good one and you want to share with your passengers? Better get that fixed.
