gotta spread some jealousy

I have a new found love for jeep shows!! I went to the PA jeep show in York today (first time) and I had an absolute blast. I went with the intention of purchasing a quick disco and maybe a few little odds and ends... boy was I wrong!! I hit up the Q-tec scratch and dent sale ended up strikin a deal for a rampage rear recovery bumper AND a set olympic 4x4 extreme double slider bars, BOTH FOR $150 these guys wanted to move some merchandise and werent afraid to make a killer deal to do so. I also picked up a shifter knob, keychain, and windshield sticker. Just when I thought my day couldnt get any better the wifey suprised me with a XRC 8 winch with a lifetime no questions asked warranty from 4wheel parts. I guess christmas in july really does exist. I didnt win anything at their famous raffle but its probably for the best I had a hard enough time fitting all that stuff into my 2dr with a passenger in the back seat. In case you were wondering the bars are already installed, and look killer, and the bumper will be sprayed with the infamous bedliner rattle can and installed ASAP. I will shoot you some pix as soon as I get a chance.

A bit of eye candy

just wanted to share some slow progress on the new recovery bumper. First I sanded down the powder coat to prep for paint. Then I had to figure out how to support the weight of the bumper for painting when it came to me support it from above not below!!

Then I put 3 rattle cans worth of bed liner on the thing.

That should hold up to some abuse, and it looks killer, Im hoping to have it mounted up by the end of the week, just gotta find a few people that can hold it up while I bolt it in.

Don't mount it yet! Get some flat stock and have a bracket made to mount it to the frame rails. If they have not changed the design since I bought mine, It will not hold up to any kind of yank, it will bend in the middle of the bumper.

Great find and it is my favorite looking bumper.

I got the same bumper from Q-tec at the in house scratch and dent sale last october and the bumper has 2 threaded holes where you run the bolts through the frame where the hitch goes. Needless to say, the stock hitch doesnt fit under it but there is a way to do it, I modified mine to fit it and still have everything sturdy.

thanx for the offer but I got a bit impatient so I went out in between rain clouds and did it the hard way.

the passenger side corner seems to be off, it looks like the bumper might be bent a bit... oh well what do ya want for 100 bucks.

It's probably a return. That what mine looked like after the first time I hooked a strap to it. Seriously just get some flat stock and have it welded so you can have mounting points on the frame rails. Four pieces mounted flat against the rails welded to the bumper and a couple of gussest welded to the flat stock and bumper.
