JUST caught a would be thief

well being an insomniac and slightly paranoid finally paid off. ok so I am sitting here surfing the forum (notice the time of this thread is 4am eastern ) when I notice my outside motion detector light come on. My first thought was "eh just animal", then I realized the top and doors are off my JK. so I did what any paranoid fool would do and grabbed my .40 cal to go investigate . Long story short when I opened my front door I saw some dude leaning into my diver side !! Dude didnt even know I was behind him, the only thing keeping me from popin him was the thought of cleaning the jeep afterwards . So I racked the slide (Dude jumped about a mile high) and told him to hit the ground till the cops showed up. Simply priceless. Best part is there is nothing in the jeep other then the GPS and tire deflators locked in the glove box.

Priceless! Nice to see some states still allow 2nd amendment rights. In CA, the libs would find a way to bust [U]me[U] if I tried this. I can't wait to hear the response time & reaction of the cop.

Send the story in to the NRA, Maybe you'll make the Rifleman.

GREAT!
I sure as hell wouldn't wanna hear a slide slam home behind me if I were doing something dumb like that

My GF is a dispatcher for the local sheriff here, just had a guy come out and find 2 people stealing stuff off his ranch, he hollered for 'em to quit (gave fair warning) they continued loading while trying to get away, he unloaded some 12G buckshot into their hind ends.
They went to the hospital for a buckshotectomy before heading for jail, old man got his stuff back and all was well with the world for that brief moment

I'm glad things worked out ok. But, dude if you waited until you got close to the perp to "rack the slide'' no offense but you need some serious tactical training. An unloaded pistol, which is what a semi auto is without a chambered round is a hammer or paper weight.

Where did you read that he waited until he got close to him to rack it?

If you don't have carpet, it's a really quick cleaning job. Some simple green, a pressure washer and an hour parked in the sun and your seats are clean. I guess I should clarify, I only know this from deer hunting.

In Arizona, it's still legal to hang someone you catch stealing your livestock. Jeeps count as livestock in my opinion.

Wow. Scary! Glad you nabbed the bad guy. Do post details on the cop's reaction.

hey sorry to keep everyone waiting. as far as tacticle training I always keep it ****ed and locked I had one chambered just racked it through to scare him... worked like a charm. The cops are always fast for me as I am a volunteer firefighter for the townshipand we have a few cops who vollie with us on their days off. Lucky for me my of my fellow firefighters was on that night and recognized the address, I would say took him about 5-10 minutes from time of call (they dont often get calls involving a person at gun point in my neck of the woods). Started with one car then 2 more showed up they were a tad miffed I had him on the ground and I drew down on him but they understood my reasoning. As far as what happened to him I cant say, all I know is my friend who was first on scene said "dont worry bro I will take care of this one mtself" as he walked the douche to his car.

"tad miffed"... why?

Sounds like it ended well, though.

they say its cause he wasnt armed... I didnt know that. I just saw something shiney in his pockey turns out it was a long screw driver, sorry douche that aint gonna work on my jeep especially without fliping the battery kill switch. I simply pointed out I did what any one of them would have done in the same situation, one of them knew I have actual NRA safety and tacticle training so I was defended.

Jeeperjkj, one could infer from the post that he had to be close for it to scare the perp. Jeepheart, not trying to bust your chops. Unless you have a malfunction you should never eject a live round, for effect or otherwise. Maybe a verbal command or disorient the perp with a beam of light. Good job just offering safety tips.
