Rubicon Trail in August

Kind of short notice and last minute but thinking of hitting the Rubicon sometime in august if I can put something together. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for someone who's never been?

Trail closed 7/31-8/2 & 8/7-8/9 for jamborees.
Better to run it with someone who has run it before because the trail markings aren't always easily seen, I'd avoid the "Old Big Sluice" (some call it the true sluice) if your running tires smaller than 37" and aren't locked front and rear, use the slabs to bypass it. (not to be confused with the "Big Sluice" for which there is no bypass).
