Hi, all! If you have been to Baja or the Rubicon, you have probably heard of Harald Pietschmann, long time 4wd guide and instructor and/or seen his very informative website
. We are raising money to help rebuild his home, and the homes of his neighbors, who were wiped out by Hurricane Odile. The list of raffle prizes is staggering, and growing every day--we have a Superwinch Tiger Shark 9.5SR, a Teraflex Tailgate Table, OR-Fab rock doors, a 3-night stay at Sedona Springs Resort, and a trip/training registration for Bill Burke's 4-Wheeling America, just to name a few! PRESS RELEASE 10/27/14
Barlow Adventures Aiding Baja Rebuild
Hurricane Odile struck Baja California Sur, Mexico in September, causing widespread devastation. The Red Cross, local government and many private relief efforts provided the immediate relief of water, food and emergency shelter. However, once the emergency passed, and power and water were restored, many relief efforts pulled out. Tremendous clean-up is still needed and many families lost their homes. Rebuilding will take months or years to complete, and while the supplies and labor are available, the money to pay for those things is short.
Barlow Adventures is stepping up to help. Owner, Nena Barlow, has set up a fundraising campaign, Friends of Harald, to help rebuild a specific neighborhood. The neighborhood that Barlow’s is working to help is that of Harald Pietschmann in La Paz, Mexico. Harald is a long time friend of Barlow, having been an offroad guide and 4-wheel-drive instructor for decades in California, Baja California, and Europe. He lives in La Paz, Mexico, and much of his property was wiped out by the Hurricane. Even so, he took a selfless attitude, saying “My house, though wet, is mostly intact, but many of my neighbors lost everything, and are sleeping under tarps—let’s help them.”
Barlow, who is also a professional 4-wheel-drive guide and instructor, is leading a trip to Baja California next month to physically assist in the acquisition of materials, clean-up and ongoing rebuild efforts in La Paz. In the meantime, she is gathering donations and selling raffle tickets to provide rebuild funds to those in need in La Paz community. The raffle drawing will be held November 21, 2014, and contains prizes like a Superwinch, a 3-night stay in Sedona, and trip with Bill Burke’s 4-wheeling America.
