Colorado 4th of July gathering!!!

Were trying to put together a short notice run for the Colorado peeps!! Wheeler lake is going off on the 5th and were trying to get out and camp somewhere around Denver and then hit up Wheeler the day after... So who is down?? I posted on the Crawler site too... What is a good trail with camping fishing and views of fireworks..

Couple thoughts for Saturday night.

Red & White Mountain: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=199 - easy trail, very long, lot's of places to camp. Overlooks the Vail Valley and is very scenic.

Mt. Bross: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=116 - again, easy trail. Don't know about camp sites, but the trail summits a 14er.

S.O.B. Hill: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=115 - Harder trail (6-8). No clue on camping areas, but looks like fun.

Chihuaha Gulch: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=165 - middle of the road (4-5). Never been, but it's part of a network of trails that includes Peru Creek: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=163 and Cinnamon Gulch: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=164 and Warden Gulch: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=218. Don't know about camp sites, but would assume that there's got to be a few decent sites around there somewhere.

I am so broke right now. I might not even be able to make the Holy cross trip. I don't even have gas money.

I am probably still going to drive up LHC to watch fireworks just cuz it is close to my house and I can make it there and back for cheap.

Those trails look like fun Mike, unfortunatley I will not be able to make it. If anybody else is stuck in town also and feel like just watching fireworks, staring at a fire and drinkin couple beers at LHC let me know

I'd think the Peru Creek network would be the closest and is likely to have a nice range of camp sites (just a guess). It also offers a variety of trails.

That said, if I remember the views correctly, I think Red & White Mountain would offer some views back toward Vail and Beaver Creek that might be kinda cool for the fireworks.

I'm up for whatever.
