Repairing wire ripped from electrical connector under hood

We were putting a new engine in our 2000 TJ and a wire going into the main electrical connector, on the firewall above the engine, got caught on the engine tilter and got ripped our minus the connector. I'm going to pull it apart tomorrow night but wondered what was involved get getting the brass connector out of the housing so I can repair it.

I'm sure there's a simple trick to removing it

Thanks
