Jeep JK Shotgun mount ??

Okay so I am thinking of mounting my Rem 870 into my 2014 JKU. I am thinking of picking up a surplus 870 shotgun mount much like I have had in my patrol vehicles off of ebay and mounting it to the roll bar of my jeep just above the back seat. along the roof. I have found a few surplus police 870 mounting brackets on ebay but I haven't purchased any yet. Basically I want a shotgun mount that locks the gun in the mount and is accessible with a hidden switch and or key in "cruiser ready" condition. Has anyone here done such an install ? Seeing as how most of the mounts usually have to be custom installed to each particular vehicle is there any thing that I need to know about mounting one up to a JK since it is not usually used as a patrol vehicle ?

! Muchas mas gracias !

I fabricated a rack, along the lines of what I think that you have in mind, located in the same location that you are talking about. Although mine holds two rifles rather than a shotgun, I think the general concept works the same.

The locks for each operate with either a key or a hidden switch. They are made by Santa Cruz Gunlocks which makes many different locks widely used in law enforcement and other such vehicles.

The roll bars already had holes in them through which I used some 1/4" carriage bolts to mount the rack. I didn't have to cut the padding around the roll bars either.

Sometimes passengers in the rear seat do need to watch their head a bit because of it.

I hope that this can be of a little help to you.

I gotta be me cause everyone else was already taken.

That is cool mounting , @WarMachine but could be improved were the option of swivel-down,floating gimbal turrets for the rear pssgrs to provide R&L coverage out the side and rear windows was possible . Just sayin....
