Taurus PT111 G2 a real value pistol

JBefore I get started, I'm well aware of Taurus' spotty past. My only previous experience with Taurus was with a model 85 38spl, it's hard mess one of those up.

So I was cruising slickguns.com and came across the PT111 G2 for $200 shipped. I figured I'd give it a shot at that cost + $35 for the transfer.

What do you get for $235 in a pistol these days? What you can get is a 12+1 9mm w/ 2nd strike capability, short rail, a manual safety if choose to use it, loaded chamber indicator, nicely textured and shaped grip, trigger lock and a spare mag.

Picked it up from my local FFL yesterday and put 100rnds through it this morning. The grip is just big enough to get all 3 fingers on with the mag inserted which helps make this pistol extremely controllable. It shoots very light for a compact pistol. That may be due in part to the dual captive guide rod spring.

The trigger is pull is long, but light at 5lbs unless your pulling it on a 2nd strike where it's a little heavier as a true DA trigger pull. The trigger is surprisingly smooth for a $200 pistol. I was only shooting today to check for function, but it easily proved to accurate enough for your standard self defense scenarios.

It's similar in size to a Glock 36, the barrel a bit shorter and the grip a bit longer. The G2 fits nicely in my G36 holster.

It's a little bit larger that my edc Sig P938, but still easily concealable.

I'm going to wring it out a little more before I decide to carry it, but so far it's been perfect.

Whoa! Those pics i posted through Tapatalk were gigantic so i'm pulling them down until i can post a normal size pic, with better lighting.
