scope plus red dot

Just wanted to try out the concept. I'm changing out these scope rings for a canti-mount. I just happened to have them and my nice lower rings won't work for the 40mm front lense. it was super close but it wouldn't make it. it touched the rail.

my thought with trying this out was to see if i liked it. I had everything already other than the 3-9x scope.

I want to do an AR10 with a fixed 16x scope and then do either an RMR or something similar on an angle like i have the micro on this .22.

anyone else run something like this?

What about running scope rings that you can see through that you can use the iron sights as backup?

Your other options are the Mk8 Leupold or the S&B's. If something's at 300 or in you can drill it with no magnification if you know what you're doing. The further something is, the more time you have to adjust optics for increased magnification in lieu of running a double optic.

Another one worthy of mention is the 2.5-10x56 Trijicon Accupoint. 2.5x is barely any magnification and with the tritium/fiberoptic illuminated center dot on the reticle it really tracks well for both eyes open engagement at close range then progressing towards more normal long range employment styles.

the leupold is way out of my league. I'm a casual shooter. If i was setting this up to honestly fight with, then that'd be another story.

The accupoint at 800 is within reach though.
