I would rather have option A with this installed. Need extra support with a 12 gauge.

Pistol grips are cute, but hell on the hand. Home defense, you want the shortest overall length possible for maneuver and retention.

If you can find one and the price doesn't deter you, take a look at the kel tec ksg

2010 JK Rubicon- meh 2dr sold
2012 JKU Rubicon- bored sold
2015 JKU Rubicon- 3rd times a charm?

Just a thought: Mossberg for the win
Everyone likes shorter barrels these days but I like mine longer with more ammo.
Mossberg 500
– 20″ barrel with heat shield
– 20″ ammo tube
– Tactical 6 position collapsible stock
– 6 shell saddle holder
– Ghost ring front & rear sight
– tactical 2 point/quick adjust sling

I sure don't care much about how cool I look to the guy that's fixin' to kill me and/ or rape my fiance. Recoil isn't a factor to me and the way that Chelsea handles a .44 with a 3" barrel leads me to believe that she won't have much issue either.

I want the shortest legal shotty possible due to obvious tactical reasons. That means that I want to keep the barrel length as well as the stock short. That fact along with simplicity and proven reliability has continued to lead me back to the Persuader time after time.

The KSG is by all accounts the sweetest 12g I've ever seen, but with the weight of 14/ 15 rnds and the price tag coming in at about $300+ more than I want to spend, it really isn't practical or feasible.

I do like Jim's recommendation and that might be the route that I decide to go on this one... dunno.

Thank you all for your input. It's much appreciated.

have you ever taken a class and learned how to properly move inside a building with a firearm?

do that. Then pick the tool. There's a lot more to it than just picking a gun. with a long gun like a shotgun or AR you change shoulders/hands when you approach different corners.

i tried with with both carbine and with pistol and found pistol was way easier in a practical sense.

from the cqb class i just took:

31 jeeps in... still have issues

Good advice, I'm sure. I've only taken CHL classes... never any CQB classes. I am somewhat familiar with close quarter techniques/ procedures, but I have no doubt that hands-on training with real-life scenarios and instruction is the way to go. I may look into it.

Regardless of what I ultimately will choose to protect my life, I at least want the option of a simple to use shotgun within reach.

Odd

When I bought my persuader way back, it had both pistol and rifle stocks

Love it to this day, but did a few mods, since I cannot leave anything alone

I sell cool shiny things

A Mossberg 500 is sorta like an AR in that you can get one however you want. I personally would go the cheap route then add the accessories you want later. 18" barrel is hard to hunt dove and or duck with.

One screw to change barrels, Same with stock... Forearm is a bit more involved but not by much.

Camo? Blued? Black? Pink? Whatever color you desire is available too

A good used 500 can be had fairly reasonable with a bit of looking... Hell new isn't too bad either
