Glock 17 or 34 for Race gun build

Just curious on the opinions of only these two gun being built for a race gun.

I know the 34 is great out of the box for production class. But most of the Glock race guns I've see built were 17 and not 34? anyone know why?

Don't care about any other brand make model so don't even bother with comments about 1911's or any other gun. I already know about them.

I'm just researching doing this between these two models. I've owned both like both. Just curious about benefits of one over the other if anyone actually knows these two gun that well.

If I even choose to go this route it will be a long way away but nothing wrong with research well in advance
