Poll: Which .22 Pistol would you choose?

Taking price and reliability into account which .22 pistol would you choose for a range/ target plinker? I also want to use it for practice for my wife to get her used to the function of a "traditional" semi-auto pistol.

I am considering the following:

SIG Mosquito
Walther P22
Ruger SR 22

If you suggest any others, I will add them.

If you have any comments on each, please enlighten me.

Thanks!

I'm a huge fan of my Ruger Mark III. It is probably one of my favorites to just plink with.

I have the sig 1911-22 and it is a fun gun. The cheaper version of it is the gsg 1911-22.

All are fun since it's cheaper to shoot.

I have the Walther and am not fond of it. It jams, and I I had the white dot in the middle of the front sight fall out while shooting it.

I have the Smith & Wesson SS 22A and like it for what I do at the range. It has a good trigger.
Do it over and I would buy:
My favorite 22 is the Ruger Mark III. I like the feel of it over the S&W 22A.

I have the walther and it is fine with cci ammo, not the cheap Remington. I love shooting it. Got it for my wife as well.

Ruger SR22 is an easy and fun gun to train with. I also own a Mark II.

Absolutely an awesome, accurate gun with a great feel and virtually no kick.

I had one, I say had because break down and reassemble was a pain in the ass. I suppose with enough practice it would become easier, but it would never be easy or quick. Very finicky.

Just another idea, but they make .22 cal conversions for a 45. 2 guns in 1 and it bight be cheaper and you won't have to do background checks.

I am a fan of the Ruger 22/45 too. SS tapered bull barrel. X2 on difficult to disassemble.

My Sig Mosquito jammed a lot when new. It started getting better after 500 rounds or so. But I have to shoot cci ammunition.

Another HUGE 22/45 fan. They are very nice, have tons of things you can do with them.

45/22 conversion?

For fans of the 45/22 conversion. What are some models?

Ruger MK III

I have a MK II I purchased in 1986. Multiple tens of thousands of rounds through it. Can't say enough good about this pistol.

Out of the three on the list, the Ruger SR22 is the best choice. I've heard too many complaints about the Sig and quite a few about the P22 (not actually made by Walther, just branded). Haven't seen the M&P22 at my range yet...

But if you're not looking for a "training" version of a standard handgun, something like the Ruger 22/45 might be a good idea. They get much better reviews than the SR22... You could go with a Mark III but the grip angle is a little annoying for some (the 22/45 has a grip angle copied from the 1911). Breakdown is a pain, but you'll get the hang of it. I see a ton of these at my range, along with the Buckmark (which is a great .22 pistol, but I prefer the Ruger). I personally have the 22/45 Lite (aluminum upper with threaded barrel).

When I was looking, it came down to the Mark III and the Browning Buckmark. I ended up with the Mark III.
