Combining Jeeping and shooting!

Went out into the desert to BLM land, where it's legal to shoot anywhere (gotta love this country, at least while it stays like this :-)
Fairly easy drive to get there, a few gnarly sections, but not too bad....
Once there, we set up a really good range, targets galore for pistols and rifles, plus a hitch launcher for throwing clays!
4 guys, 3 hours, doesn't get much better!
One of the guys was ex marine, another is current 'elite special forces kinda guy'. Now I think I'm a good shot and i am, but I've never seen clays shot with a Glock before....hmmmm I need to work on that. I guess it's different when you do it for a living, eh? Got to blow up some stuff too...
picked up all our brass and targets and headed back to camp for ....you guessed it....BEER.....

Two things. If you're going to post something like this at least put up pictures. Makes it more fun to read. Second this is no such thing is an "ex Marine" It's just Marine. Regardless of if hes still active duty or not he will always be a Marine. That title was earned and cant be taken away.

Chicago area needs to work on the Jeep Wave!!![/

Ah yes, BLM land. Definitely something that I miss since I moved to the southeast. I used to love going out to the dez and taking long walks with an AR and shooting at random stuff or setting up your own distance targets. Its just not the same a range.

Thanks Jock for correcting him before I had too. I went out shooting Sunday. Nothing like the peace and quiet right before you send the first round down range.

Sunday prairie dog hunting for me.
Little shits are almost impossible to sneak up on and tough to shoot at 200+yds.
Two of us shooting from the top of the cab of my 1978 J10.
When you pop them with a .223 they do some of the funniest shit.

Get yourself some AR500 steel plate to shoot at. I have a 20" x 30", a 12" a 6" and a 2". They are fun to shoot at and as long as you don't shoot a 50 cal at 100 yards they will hold up for years and years of abuse.

Sounds good! We had plenty of paper targets along with pumpkins, big water bottles, some exploding stuff one of the guys mixed up and lots of clays to set way out there and pop away at.... i wish I could do that every day....smelled so good afterwards too, they should make a men's cologne that smells like gunpowder, gun oil and exploded stuff.. and beer...
I kept thinkin' it would be funny if some illegals wandered onto us as they frequent this area for their entry into our country. They are often armed nowadays, but I think with our firepower we could have taken on the whole Mexican army.....

Shooting on BLM land is a "BLAST" Remember to pack out more than you packed in. People are slobs. Love reactive targets. Gotta have a fire extinguisher. California likes to prosenacute if you start fires.

Yeah, we took big trash bags and picked up way more than we took in. The area, though obviously used, was pretty clean. I find most shooters to be courteous people. There is one place we go that looks like it's right out of Mad Max, you drive through a bunch of guarded compounds (hmmm meth ?) into a canyon full of ....stuff, appliances etc... there for the shooting...lotsa fun. But if you stray off the trail on the way back......

I like you saying you pick up the trash . By my house , there is so much shooters trash , I almost wish they would close it .Don't get me wrong , we love to shoot but , many people don't value the great out doors. I like to go wheeling without trash . Also you say it's pretty clean but , then you say there is a bunch of appliances and other stuff to shoot at ? It looks like mad max? . That crap should be hauled out. Sounds like the normal for shooters , a bunch of pigs. Gives us wheelers who actually go on outings with others for trash recovery a bad name.I moved away from Cali. to get away from the trash and gov. moonbeam.I don't think that there is anywhere you can go where there is no trash in so. cal.I Would like to see pics. of the place with trash for you to shoot you call clean .
