AR15 car mount?

Ive got a custom built AR15 and one more thats half way built. I was wondering if anyone knows of any in car mounts (particularly for a JKU) that work well. Assuming I buy a JKU soon I would love something I could secure my rifle too for trips to the woods or range.

Pics of how you guys transport rifles would be nice too. Ive considered a pelican case but I would rather have something mounted inside with easy access.

^ Cool, but very impractical. Not to mention probably not great for the rifle with all the vibration that would cause off-road.

I'd say mounting it to the backseat would be my preferred method- out of sight, out of mind for everyone who doesn't need to know, and legal in just about any area that way! A strap arrangement would be cheap and easy to do- Mark W.

Back in a '94 YJ! Well, after I sink $$$$ into it...

I'm in Georgia so legality isnt an issue. Although Im not sure of the laws in NC and SC and I would likely be traveling between them as very close to both.

I may look around at some current designs and see if I can mock something up. Im picturing either something that mounts horizontally on the trunk door or vertically behind one of the back seats. I know there are a few racks for law enforcement, one of those might be a good starting point.

That looks pretty neat., not sure if it would interfear with spod though, or if my guns would fit (SPAS12 and AK's)
I'm hoping there is a mount I can place between the back roll bars... Easy access 😁 just haven't found it yet

Agree. Mounting to center bar on my JK would interfere with my quad 50 mount.

I have an instatrunk and just drilled holes and made a mount. I have half doors/soft top so if I need to leave my jeep locked I can at least put it in the instatrunk and lock the rear hatch.

This is how I transport my AR15. A 10.5" SBR and folding stock makes it possible. http://www.amazon.com/5-11-Select-Ca.../dp/B0026A1Q82

Here's a little bit more practical execution of that same idea. While a little pricey, much more readily accessible, and accommodates more than just one type of rifle/shotgun. Not good for in like an EDT type scenario, but I can see how these would come in handy on a wheeling/hunting trip or ranching applications.

Gunner Fab also has a more practical looking option for mounting long guns vertically, behind the center console. Seems like a better alternative for an EDT/ ranch gun application. Still pricey, though.
