air bag light comes on...

so, the guy is coming on thursday this week to pick up the jeep. last night the wife and i went out for some ice cream and the air bag light started coming on intermittently. its not flashing, it lights up and i get the "ding"... drive for a mile or so and it goes out. a few miles later it comes back on.

anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this? ive already d/c the battery this morning and a short test drive later the light came back on. i did the key dance to get a trouble code and there are none.

id kinda like to have this remedied before the buyer gets here... so does anyone have any ideas?

i hate you both for saying that

that was my initial thought, i was hoping there might be something else that could cause it. like the sensors in the seats.....

Of course there are other things that "could" cause it, but that diagnosis is going to be a hell of a lot more than "the light comes on and off". Fault code would be the starting point...more than likely it'll be something an OBDII reader won't pickup on, it'll be a manufacture fault code.

The most likely culprit is the clock spring, but there are 100s of reasons why that light can illuminate.

That's what mine did when it was the clockspring.

Down Under they are damned expensive. The stealer wanted $1179 for just the part! (Over $1230US) Ordered one from Jeepareus & had it delivered & on the doorstep for $240, then put it in myself.

Not happy, but certainly not as unhappy as the stealer price.
