Replace Infinity Speakers for Better Sound?

I am looking at upgrading my factory audio equipment. I have the Infinity setup currently but looking into swapping speakers. Has anybody swapped their Infinity stuff for aftermarket? If so what does everybody recommend? Does the aftermarket stuff sound any better or are the Infinity speakers fairly good? Right now I am just looking at speaker upgrades and maybe swapping in a My Gig. Should I stay away from the my Gig stuff and go aftermarket? I am looking at using the GPS, Sirius, DVD's, and cameras. If I go the My Gig route I will definitely get the Coastal Lock pick equipment. So any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help. Jeff

I replaced everything to alpine. Front and rear speakers, sub and deck. I've also got a 500 watt amp for the sub and a 400 watt amp driving the speakers. Love the sound and pounds like champ.

Save yourself a ton of money and hassle and just Dynamat the speaker pods. The Infinity system is quite good and a lot better then most people believe.

Or... you can spend a crap load of money chasing the "Holy Grail" of stereo systems.

Good luck.

There's got to be some input. The dynamat is a great idea. MALO did you dynamat around the dash speakers some how in addition to the sound bar? Thanks for the feedback. Thanks a lot. Jeff

A lot of opinions on this subject, and I'm no different.

A speaker will only sound as good, as the clean & undistorted power that is being sent through it. Translation: If you have shitty speakers, then you can only make them sound so good. But the Infiniti's are not bad, and better than your average run of the mill factory speaker.

So, I agree with the Dynamat option, although I used a cheaper version available at Home Depot, and poly fill. Then perhaps you consider upgrading your amp to a quality amplifier that pushes a minimum of 75 x 4, or better yet 100 x 4.

Amplifier Tip: Remember that the top 10-15% (est.) of any amplifier produces higher distortion rates on the power it is outputting. So it isn't that you NEED a lot of power, but if you want clear, quality, sound, you want to ensure that you're never getting close to the amp's total output, which is why you may opt for a higher output amp, as he did above with the 400 watt Alpine (100 x 4).

Hope my $0.02 helps.

A lot of chit coming...

Like CruzeCode said, when you look at an amp you can take the RMS wattage cut it in half and that is your clean wattage. That should keep you safe no matter what brand you buy, cheap to expensive.
