Connection for reverse lights in trailer harness

I have the towing package which includes the 4 pin connector. I plan to add the 7 pin harness to gain the 12 VDC connection for the battery on board the trailer and a heavier ground than comes with the 4 pin harness. The trailer (Jeep Extreme Trail pop-up) is light enough that it doesn't need brakes and so I will not be installing a brake controller.

The trailer has backup lights and I would prefer that they operate when I am backing the trailer.

Those of you with the Mopar 7-pin trailer harness - does the backup lights on your trailer work?

Thanks for any information.

My father was a staunch conservative and voted straight line Republican until the day he died, now he votes Democrat.

Install the 7 pin, wire it correctly and add a brake controller in the JK "just in case". Its easier to do it all in one shot

And to be honest, no trailer is "too light for brakes". Having brakes on a trailer is one of those nice things, like when something goes wrong and it starts to sway just tap the controller and its all good.
Not to mention if you have it come unhitched
