Accent lights.

I need some opinions guys. I was thinking about adding colored accent lights to the front foot wells of my JK, and maybe the dome light as well. I was going to go with green because my JK is green, however I really like blue lights on vehicle interiors better. What do you guys think, green to match my Jeeps color, blue, or skip it altogether because its too "ricer?"

Also if you've already done this, post up the pics, I'd like to see what it looks like on other Jeeps.

Dome lights at the floor would be pretty handy. My Kenworth at work has red ones and it's nice for finding the crap I drop on the floor. I think if ya avoid having them flash with your beats you could prolly get away with not being too ricey haha but it's your ride. You can do anything ya want just be prepared for a little flaming! Good luck and post what you come up with.

I did red in the front footwells and under the rear seats. I tied them into a wire behind the dash so that they come on when I turn the lights on. I just went to autozone and used some of the led strips that they had there.

Ha, yeah no plans for them to do anything other than turn on with the dome lights!

Why not have rock lights tied into your dome light so that when it comes on the rock lights come on. Then tie your interior footwell lights into the dash lights so that they are dimmable and not just on with your dome light.

Not mine but looks like my lights.

Rock light are planned in the future, I think I would put them on a dedicated switch though, don't know if I'd want them on with the domes. I have to think about that...

you can tie them into the dome light and also run a switch as well. That way they will come on with the domelight and then you can switch them on when you want as well.

Yeah, I've got no clue how to do that. That would be ideal though.

Check out oznium.com for ridiculous good price/quality lighting for your car. I do not work for them, but I probably should as much as I promote them. I have interior LED lighting from them and its like turning the sun on at night when I flick the switch.

Pick up a few cathode kits or go LED with the Piranha bars...as seen below.

Sorry for the crappy phone pick.

We are talking rock lights and led accent lights in the footwells. Sorry I will not buy oznium no more either.

Ok on 07's there is a yellow wire with white stripe on the passenger side by the rear wheel well. That is the dome light wire.

Give me a couple of days and I can do a wiring diagram to show you how it works with mine. Open door dome light comes on and rock lights come on. There will also be a switch to turn rock lights on when you want as well.

I used the blue 8 led strips from auto zone. I ran them to a separate fuse block and relays under the hood and the rugged ridge a-pillar switch pod. I did it because I'd you drop something at night theres no lights by your feet to find anything and I honestly think it'll look cool as hell with the doors off cruising in the summer ( flame on for that ricer comment :ashamed: )

I've got Green LED strip lights that I bought off EBAY I have them hooked up to the dome light and they come on when you open the door etc. I also have some green ones under the seats that stay on all the time the Jeep is on.

So for footwell lighting, where is the best place to mount them and how (hardware, 3M double stick tape etc)? I just ordered green 1 ft long ribbon led strips from oznium, one for each side. They are 0.32 in wide, or about a hair wider than 5/16". Pics of your mounting solutions would be awesome.

The ones I bought from autozone came with 3m tape on the backside. The question is do you want them to be dimmable?

The ones I ordered have the 3M tape as well, I was concerned with how durable that will be. Will the tape stand up to the Florida heat and humidity?

Being dimmable would be cool, but I also don't think I want them tied into the console lights because I'm not sure I want them on everytime the parking lights are on.

I can't say how they will hold up in Florida. But the tape has held up through its first summer in Tucson and no problems.

Spaced out and got confused. My footwell lights are on when the driving lights are on and not dimmable. My LED center console lights I added are dimmable. Go to autozone and find there LED strip that has a little test button on it. Take it home and put it up in the footwell and tape the switch on and see what you think. I don't know why I didn't do this right from the get go. The red led's I am using in the footwells are not overpowering.

still thinking about the wiring diagram. Are you still wanting to run the rock lights from the dome light?

No, I think I'll do the rock lights on their own switch.

Ok then I won't sweat a wiring diagram for you then. If you need any help post up. But this is a pretty easy thing to do.

So I'm just going to put them in their own switch. Does anyone know a safe wire i can tap into, or should I just wire the lights straight to the battery?
