Cobra 29 LX High SWR Reading

OK. I have this CB installed and I'm having a little issue getting a low SWR. Right now I have on ch 1 1.5 and on 40 1.8
If I tune down the firestik II i have by taking out the adjustment screw I get a 1.9 on all ch.. How can i get the SWR lower???
I have the mount grounded, I have the bottom of where the stud and coax go in grounded down. I have checked and rechecked everything and can't figure it out.
I have to coax run along the roll bars to the cb. I trimed off the extra coax so there is no rolls and no kinks.. I grounded the mount to the back of the tail lights with a 12 gauge wire. I grounded down where the screws go into the mount and thats where i put the extra ground. I put an ohms meter on the stud with the coax disconected and got the proper readings. I checked the coax and it has not been broken....

Any thoughts.

It looks like your grounding runs to the inside of the tailgate. You may want to try grounding it to the tub. Just run the ground wire a little further. The hinges to the tailgate may not offer the best grounding connection.

You'd think with a 1.5 and a 1.9 that you should get somwhere down to 1.6 or 7 playing with the tip.

I run the ground to the inside of the jeep and into the back of the tail light. The adjusting screw is all the way in. I even have the screw cut down. If I take the screw out I get like a 2 on all channels..

Leave the tuning screw in, go to an open area to tune too. Also make sure all your conventions on your cb are good and the antenna also make sure the antenna cable has not been kinked.

07 JK 2/DR Sahara, 35" Wrangler kevlar, 10k Winch, Garvin Roof Rack, 3" Black Diamond, CatBack Exhaust, RR Gen-1 Snorkel, too much more to list

You have a fine DC ground, but you need an RF ground. Check out this thread:
