Hardwire a Garmin?

Anyone know if it is possible to cut off the existing plug on the power wire and hardwire the garmin in behind the dash somewhere....I hate that wire hanging all over the place, and plus my lab kind of broke the plug and it doesn't fit real tight anymore. When I find the jeep i am wanting i am thinking about getting the upper dash from quadratec and trying to hardwire the unit in behind the dash and fixing the unit to the upper dash

thanks
Lance

I cut mine on my 60CX and ran the cable down the a pillar to a switch controled 12 volt circuit. Some models have some type of regulated power adapter so you need to make sure your model can handle the voltage.
