Looking for switched and illumination wire under steering column

Or better yet under the drivers side, side dash cover. I have my ARB compressor mounted, wired up, and switch mounted but I need a switched source under the steering column and illumination (hot when headlights are on) Before I start sticking pins in wires and testing with the volt meter I was hoping someone had a quick answer

should be an orange wire with a gray stripe hooked up to the power windows switches or the AC controls.

Yep, orange with gray stripe. That's what I hooked my led's up to so that they come on when my lights are on.

So behind the power window controls? How in hell to you get a wire up to that point, without tearing the dash apart?

There's a couple write ups on radio swaps that show you to get back there. You take the center piece off the top of the dash, then there's a couple bolts that hold the face on. It's not hard to do.
