Air pressure switch

Well, I bought a Viair 400C to get installed on the Jeep. I'm getting my manifold all set up, got a air pressure switch and I have one question. The pressure switch has a spot on to to connect your + & - ... which one is which?

Here is a link to the one like what I got.

Thanks,
Steve

do not wire positive and negative to that!
it will be a dead short!

that goes inline on the positive side of your compressor relay trigger wire
all it does is break the connection when the pressure is reached

So do I have it between the switch to turn it on and the relay?

ok heres how that switch works, it turns off your compressor when the air storage tank is pressurized to a certain psi - they come in different pressures, 125, 145, etc
if you have a 145 psi switch, then when you get 145 psi in the tank, it breaks the contact between those 2 terminals, then when pressure falls below 110 psi (inflating tires, running air tools, blowing air horns, leakage, whatever) - then the contact between them is restored, compressor turns back on and repressurizes the tank to 145psi, then breaks contact again etc etc

take your wire after your main on/off switch that triggers your relay to turn the compressor on and off and just cut that wire and run the 2 ends to the 2 terminals on the pressure switch.

when your tank is below 145psi, then it will turn on and off with your main switch because the pressure switch is keeping contact across its 2 terminals, over 145psi then you wont be able to turn on your compressor and over pressurize things because the contact between the terminals on the pressure switch is broken by the air pressure.

make sense?
