I got my sound system in my '10 JK Sport sounding the way I wanted it to!

Here's what I did, if yo have a base stereo in your JK and afraid of getting a new headunit stolen then here's what I did.. and it sounds a bit better than the 325 watt monsoon that was in the car traded in for my Jeep!

Do the 6.5" speaker upgrade. Be sure to stuff the speaker boxes and sound bar with polyfill. It's worth it.

Get the kicker 33 amplifier upgrade. Do it. You will notice your 6.5" speakers are louder.. more dynamic range but no bottom end yet. until the last step.

get a 10" sub.. I had an old punch Z in the basement. I bought the 10" sub woofer box from Wallmart for $29.00, and a Rockford Fosgate 150-2 amp from
Ultimate Electronics for $90.00.. buy a PAC linelevel converter with amp remote
for $30.00

Wire it up, make sure you connect the sub speaker level out to BOTH channels of the PAC converter. This is required for the remote power on
to work. Wire it up as bridged.. you will have 300watts out to your sub.

turn on your factory head unit, set the bass to 0
slide the rockford fosgate pass filter to low pass.. adjust notch filter to your liking... I'm around mid... adjust gain to get maximum punch and reduce the distortion to 0.

get in the jeep and adjust to your liking. ahh.. now I can listen to
Seether, Stone Sour, Alter Bridge, Shinedown... without wishing the jeep
had a better sound system! It rocks!
Total power is @ 485Watts RMS!

I can still fit three duffle bags and a cooler in the back! I'll post pics

F*CK CREED! Scott Stapp is a douchebag. They're 100x more kickass as Alter Bridge!

With the infinity system you'll just need the sound processor from kicker .. they call it an amp but it's got adjustable crosspoints. It's model 77kick37
I added an amp for the sub, and used a speaker level to line level converter with speaker signal amp remote control.

This would have been a good post if it wasnt HEAVILY gayed up by every band posted so far.
If youre listening to creed just turn your volume to 0 and it sounds waaaaaay better

Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

For the stock infinity, its really pretty decent overall.
You can put the kicker upgrade speakers in, which I hear helps.
And a bigger/better subwoofer is a must. I have 2 10's in a sealed box in mine and its a night and day difference.

What kicker speakers/subs would you rec? I've been out of the audiophile world for a while.

I'll jump on the band bandwagon for this thread too.....those bands are terrible, and they all macrame their own jean shorts.

If the stock infinity system gets loud enough for your liking without cracking then you just need to put a better sub in and an amp to power it. the factory sub is a waste.

take it out and sell it to someone who thinks they need it.

I changed everything to Alpine... speakers, head unit, amps and sub. Very happy with the results.

I had to keep it down to one 10" sub since I need room for a shovel, cooler, and some fencing to throw under the tires if I get stuck 4 wheeling.
After all , that's why I bought a Wrangler in the first place, to go off when I want.

Upgrade to the Upgrade

I have been collecting parts for my audio install. I'm doing something similar to the OP, with an upgrade in sub and amplifier.

I have ordered the Kicker Upgraded Speakers, and plan to insulate the enclosures. Then I will use the JL Audio Stealthbox with a single 13" (3 ohm), bolted to the tub of the JK as it was designed, along with a JL 900/5 amp, which is a five channel amp.

The "stealthbox" is to be mounted through the tub of the JK, making it more secure. Swap out the hardware that they provide with "security hardware", and no you've got something that thieves will need to pack a lunch to get out of your rig.

Ouch $849.00 ...
Does the same JL enclosure mount in t a 2DR jk ?
Let u s know how it sounds . I kinds of kept the upgrade on the inexpensive side just in case of theft. It still sounds decent, 46Watts RMS per 6.5" speaker and 300 Watts RMS to the Subwoofer. The sub enclosure is a 10" black fabric enclosure that was $25.00 and matched the interior. The sub I had lying around in the basement.
The amplifier I got on sale at a Ultimate Electronics liquidation sale.
I'm afraid of I went all out it would have been stolen. My Jeep is a year round rag top.

Not sure if it works in a 2-door, but can check. I'll let you know how it sounds when it is all said and done.

But I will say, with a clean install, upgraded 6.5s, a JL sub, and a TON of clean, crisp, clear, JL power, my guess is that it is going to sound good.

Yeah.. even my upgrade sounds great. Just be sure to sound deaden your Jeep.
I used polyfill in the soundbar .. plus rubber between the light conopy cover and the ligh canopy. If you don't at high power levels the light canopy will buzz and the wires in the sound bar will rattle. It's more powerful than the standard kicker upgrade since I've got 300 watts to the sub, and 46 watts rms to each 6.5" speaker.

my system is a little different.
i have a stock radio with a line out converter, alpine type s sound bar speakers, crunch 1100 watt amp, and a 12 inch L7 with a ported box.

its bad ass but i think the head unit needs to be replaced.

i'll def. take that advice on the poly fill in the sound bar

Let's see some pictures guys. I've already got the speakers replaced, but I'm gonna need that amp. The sub and amp are also coming soon. I wanted to see everyone's setups, so I can get some ideas.
