Wiring new winch to Battery question

I have a Red Top Optima, and will be wiring a Smitty XRC10 to it today. Can I attach it to the side posts, or should I go to the top ones?
I think I heard somewhere months ago that you couldn't, is this true?

35" KM2's - Poly Performance Fox Coilover system - TeraFlex Arms - PSC Ram - Rugged Ridge Modular Snorkel - COP 4X4 Nack Attack - Tatton Driveshaft - S-POD - 5.13 and 6 speed.

Use top posts. I have read the ones on the sides are used for lights.

You can buy side post screw in studs. I have my winch wired to the side pos.
If you can run the starter off the side post, Most GM's, You can run anything off the side post.

DO NOT WIRE YOU WINCH TO THE SIDE POST OF AN OPTIMA!!!!

You will burn out the side post in a hurry.

The draw from a long winch pull is much greater than the draw form the few seconds a starter pulls. The side post of the optima are very thin metal, Id hate to see your side post melt off after a long pull

Yes most batterys use a thin strap to bridge the top to side posts. So do it right and attach them to the top post.

No worries man, Just want people to be aware that in a long winch pull is not the time you want your battey failing you. The side post are awesome to have and use with the side post adapters for Lighting and aftermarket goodies.
