alternator squeek

Anyone get this after a lot of wheeling. Mine has been making a lot of noise and won't shut up. Can I pull the wheel off it and clean in or should I just buy a new alternator. Its just really annoying. At first I thought it was one of my pullies like it always is but I replaced both and it really sounds like its coming from the alternator.

I'm assuming you have hosed everything down? Pulling the pulley (aka "wheel") off isn't going to do you any good. Unless there is some plain obvious debris behind there, even water should just wash it out.

Be certain it's the alternator before replacing parts, a long handled screwdriver to your ear, or getting a cheap mechanics stethoscope is the best at diagnosing that. If it's at nearly any rpm, just remove the belt and spin them each by hand..
