Side mirror heater??

Anyone in the colder states looked into a way to put some heat onto the side mirrors? I recently moved to Anchorage and think it might be helpful.... anyone done this or have any helpful tips? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, 2011's have heated mirrors. Maybe try a retrofit?

If you buy the replacement glass for a 2011 it should have a hookup/plug-in for the heating grid. How much power they get would take a donor '11 to figure it out and go from there..

If it's anything like what we get over here, you scrap off your mirror like you do your window.

Yeah, it's really not too bad here honestly. But I work 12 hour shifts and I don't have covered parking at the office building... some of the shifts are during the day, some are over night, so it could be interesting to come out one morning and have them completely iced over... although its getting into the 'spring' months..

Rugged Ridge Heated Mirrors

I retrofitted a pair of Rugged Ridge heated/signal mirrors designed for a TJ to fit my '08 JK a couple of years ago. They work great! I tapped into to the rear window defroster circuit for power and have not had any issues. It did required drilling an additonal hole through the door skin to fish the wires through the doors. The additoanl wires are routed out of the doors along with the exisitng wire bundle for the power windows and locks and I used a weather-pak connector so they could be unplugged to take the doors off. The mirror base is a blanking plate from a Rugged Ridge mirror relocation kit that I wasn't using.
