Elec. gurus a little help.

I’m replacing a 10 ga fusible link wire spliced to a 6 ga alternator wire. The open ended copper connector I want to use is 6 ga and I want to use that to crimp and wire the 10 ga fusible link wire.
The old fusible link was 4”.
Won’t the 6 ga connector change the 10 ga wire to 6 ga? If so should I measure the fusible link wire from the end of the 6 ga connector?
Hope this make sense, and thanks for the help.

No, the 10ga link will still behave like 10ga link.

Not sure on length; but you may have trouble with the connector being too large for the 10ga.

changing the seat on your toilet to a smaller , padded one or adding a smaller hole for the turds to go down doesn't change the bowl capacity.

a wire's gauge is it's gauge.

Thank you.
I think I can make the crimp work on the smaller wire I will solder the ends. I have plenty to practice with.
I know the fusible length is critical and the old fusible link was 4”.
