'14 Alpine Head unit swap

I've done a bit of research, and am trying to confirm a few things. Plan:
the current sound system is ok, but I'm not liking the head unit (Uconnect 430)
I'd like to swap the head unit to a Pioneer or the likes but want to retain steering wheel control (I can get the adapter from crutchfield?)
For now, Id keep the stock alpine speakers, will this work good with new head unit?
Maybe in the future replace speakers and add amp, but if HU and stock speakers work I'd keep that for now.
Is there benefit or does it work with everything stock to put a new subwoofer?
thanks in advance
