Rocker Switch/Fuse Issues

I have installed a set of KC lights on my 2007 Jeep JK. I used the manufacturer supplied wiring harness but not the supplied switch. Instead, I purchased a 12V 16 Amp LED 5 prong rocker switch. I want the switch to light when I turn on the headlights so I tapped into the dash light power supply. Everything works fine until I increase the dash brightness to the maximum. At that point, a 3 amp fuse, which is part of the harness, blows. I know when the dash light is at its max. the voltage increases to roughly 14V exceeding the switch rating. These switches are made for that purpose, so they must be able to handle the increased voltage. I have even explored putting a resistor in the line coming from the dash power, but this may be over complicating the issue. Everyone taps into the dash lights, but no one seems to have this same problem. Can anyone help?
