Replacing Sirius antenna

Has anyone replaced the antenna with one that has a non-FAKRA cable? I've seen that several folks state they were fine, just had to pull off the FAKRA end on the head unit or buy the smb to fakra adapter from tss-radio. Curious if anyone who as done this has noticed any long term effects.

Not many FAKRA cables out there anymore, and I'm looking to put a truck antenna on the jeep around the GOBI. I thought Terk's SIR4 was a fakra end based on powerxm's website, but alas, it arrived today and is just a SMB.

For any others who might try this... I ended up using the smb -> fakra conversion method. err...I carefully snapped off the end of the fakra housing on the radio leaving the base to hold the SMB plug. Worked pretty good, now we'll see if it falls off at some point.

Reception with the Terk SIR4 is insanely better than it was with the stock antenna...even compared to before I stuck the roof rack up there.

I have a Gobi Ranger rack on the way for my Rubicon and I am wondering about Satellite reception. Did you notice a big change in the reception? did you lose Sat signal altogether? After reading your post I assume that you have a Gobi installed. Thanks
