Air Bag Light

Went wheeling yesterday and all was well. Heading out of the park my air bag light on the dash would light up and chime ( the same chime as the low fuel warning.) It keeps going on and off and the damn chime is driving me nuts.

This morning I figured I would disconect the battery and see if that would do the trick. What I found under the hood was a cracked battery. So I replaced it with a Sears Platinum series hoping that would do it. No Luck.

I have checked the connections under both seats and all looks to be in order. Does any one have any idea what it could be ???? Is there a sensor or something mounted on the frame or body that may have been knocked loose ????

Sounds like it is most definitely the clock spring. Mine has been this way for a couple of months. Drives me crazy, but I keep procrastinating the install... There is some decent info on here if you keep searching around.

My clock spring went bad as well. I just plugged the fuses and the stupid chiming went away. (Of course, I still have the dash light, but that I can live with).

Yep clock spring, mines been like that about a year now. Mine only chimes right after startup and I just ignore it. Seatbelt light is still on though. Maybe one day I will get it fixed. So for now its just the finger to people. yeah horn doesn't work either.

Mine just started doing this recently too. It only really comes on after about 40 minutes of driving. Does the on/chime and then off for a while. Really random and doesn't happen often. Any word on this clockspring replacement? And wtf is it?

The clock spring allows your steering wheel to turn without binding all the wiring in there. The part costs just over $200. Out of warranty, it'll run you about $500 to get a dealer to replace it.

Mine has been dinging for over a year. It's very intermittent. Sometimes I'll go weeks without a ding, then it'll do it 5 times in a 30 minute drive.

If the Airbag light goes on and off, like every time you turn a corner, then it is your clockspring. If the A/B light goes on and stays on, it still COULD be the clockspring, but about 1 in 50 times, it is a bonafide Airbag problem.
