Question Jeep not starting

OK guys’

Here is what is happening. I have a 09 JK. I was on a business trip a couple of months ago. I pulled into to a gas station to fill up the Jeep and went to start it and the ignition would only click one time. After about 30 tries I was able to start it. This was not a dead or low battery issue. Took the Jeep into the dealer and they replaced the keys and said they thought it had to do with the thief prevention and the way the key interacted with the computer to prevent the Jeep form be stolen. Jeep worked fine.

Fast forward two months. I go to start the Jeep and the same thing happens. Again 30 or so tires later I get it started drive to the dealer. When the service adviser tries to start the Jeep it won’t start but eventuality they get it started and take it the service tech. The tech goes to start the Jeep and it starts every time. No computer codes are showing and the service tech says there is nothing he can do and to bring it back in if it happens again.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems or is my Jeep the only one with gremlins? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Our 08 was doing this all last month, on and off. We would just take the key out, wait a minute, and it would start up. However, this month we've had no issues at all? Gremlins-perhaps?

I have been up for well over 20 hours so maybe it's me being retarded, but it sounds a hell of a lot like what happens when you have a bad spot on your starter.

When it happened to me, the battery cables just weren't tightened down enough

I understand the Jeep thing

I have an '07 and it happened to me a couple of days ago for the first time. Same 1-click noise and no start. I took out the starter relay, tapped it a couple of times on the floor (you could use any hard surface) and inserted it again. It started right up and has been working fine.

For future reference, remember that relays are mechanical devices and sometimes get stuck and just need to be tapped to get loosened again. In case that didn't work, my next step would have been to switch it with another relay.

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99¢ a can. That's almost $7.00 in dog money.

Happened to me last year with an 07. I was told the starter motor went so I changed it. Still wouldnt start. I got PO'd and slammed the 4x4 shifter into 4lo and back to 2hi and its been working ever since.

A buddy of mine had it happrn last weekend on a trail. We had to pull him off the trail. Got to a gas station didnt work. About 1/2 hr later it started like there was never a problem.

Must be a Jeep thing.
