P0456, P0457-gas cap replaced and inspected...

...I'll start by saying that this is the first time I've had this issue on any of my model jeeps.

I got the dreaded gascap light, then CIL. P0456 and P0457 codes were pulled then cleared.
Replaced Gascap with OEM, Factory cap.

Immediately the same 3 symptoms came back on.
Traced lines all the way, smoked the lines from the white Evap module back to the filler(let out smoke from what I assume was a vent at the end of the filler module)
Smoked out the other line heading towards the gas tank but connected at the evap module. Nothing I could see. Smoke out the Evap module itself and saw no leaks.

Not sure where to go next....I was going to replace the white module, but couldn't find the part number. Thought it was called a leak detection pump and it was $30 ish bucks. Between this and the random oil leak I've developed, I'm going nuts. It's been 4 months.

Grumpy, thank you! Parts ordered. Hopefully this does the trick. Considering I've gotten my oil leak dialed down a bit, coolant leak fixed, and towing season around the corner...I'd like to make sure my check engine light actually means something when it's needed.

When I had mine gas cap warning come on earlier this year, I replaced all three and it fixed the problem. My detector had sand/ dust in it from my trips to Moab.

To follow up for those in the same boat. I replaced the 2 parts above, cleared the codes with my superchips, and it's been good for a week.

Also, because I'm a fuel Nazi during the week on my commute. I went from 16 to 13.7 when this issue first occurred. After replacing, I'm at 17mpg city. Some say those parts don't affect your vehicle but they did on mine.

2007 Gascap warning

Well it finally happened to me with my 2007, "gascap" on the dash, then the check engine light. I put a new gascap on, no change. I inspected everything and didn't find a problem. I took it in to the dealer. They did a pressure test and smoke test. It turned out being the detector. I read lots of posts, but didn't see this one until after the fact.

That $35 module costs $250 to have the dealer install it. I still feel lucky to get out for $250......
