compass

anyone remove it forever or relocate it? i just mounted my cb on the dash and now it says south at all times. so i want to either remove it 100% or relocate it somewhere else so it will work properly. id rather relocate but if thats not possible ill just tear it out.

I've thought about removing mine. I have the Daystar tray and always put my cell up there. I know that screws it up, but it's supposed to recalibrate if you remove the cell. I've left it off for days and it still doesn't recalibrate. It only shows east or west now, and generally it's the opposite of the direction I'm going.

It's easy enough to ignore on my dash, but still I don't like it. I just don't know what it'll do if I unhook it.

You can open the radio and remove the built in speaker, and that worked for me.

so i went ahead an pulled the compass out. now nothing is displayed where the direction normally is. i was attempting to relocate it behind the glove box but could not manage to fish the wire down there. and i was not trying to get into a 3 hour project of tearing apart the dash so for now, it just took it out. im happy now. maybe one day when im not so lazy ill fish the wires through.

There is a manual recalibration procedure in the owners manual. It involves driving to a deserted area, mashing some buttons, and driving in circles.

Now back to a 2013 JKU Rubicon with "stuff", planning 37's with minimal lift.

I've tried them all... Jeeps are still the best. (0||||0)
