thanks h20boy. that site has been a tremendous resource to mygig owners for about 3 years now. but its good that you posted it here for others that may not be aware of it. I just downloaded the latest Gracenotes update, 870 something megs last night. you sure won't get anything from jeep dealers. if they have any updates to the mygig from harmon/becker it's usually months behing whats available on that site.

I just downgraded my software back to the 8.40. I can watch DVD while in drive without a lockpick.

i'm a little confused. what year is your jeep? mine is a 2008 and i have the latest version which is Version 2.043. I get mine updates directly from
Harmon/Becker. I haven't heard of a version 8.40. It's not listed on the MOFV site. I have the allgig usb. i can watch dvd's while driving and change them out if i desire. the allgig usb enabled all the of the stuff that chrysler disabled at the factory.

I can see why they disable the dvd while driving. I kept wanting to look down and watch it with my son.

Updates are for either bug fixes or to add new capabilities.
There are three separate sections:
Operation system from Harman/Becker
Gracenotes available from Harman/Becker
Navigation Software from Navteq
the website Mofv.mom/mygig has updates for all the chrysler radio models. ie REN,RER, etc. there is also a forum there if you have questions.
Updates from Harman/Becker are free as they are from the jeep dealer, however the jeep dealer has, in my experience been two updates (read months) behind. The Nav software has been updated only twice since 07. The latest is a 2009 release. It cost $199.00. Before you buy it, go to the website and go thru the selection process to bring you to the update order page. Look at what the update covers as far as new cities, you may not want to spend that much money on an update that doesn't apply to any area that you normally drive in. Hope this helps.
