What can it be?

Thursday before school I come out to find the jeep dead. Looked a bit and the battery had no water... Topped off and got a jump. Ran fine until late last night. Got another jump and now I'm up to jump 3. Gonna have the battery tested as it is just under 1 year old. Full of water but still nothing.

So what do you guys think? Killed the battery or the alternator is shot? No new electrical mods...

while the jeep is running, disconnect your pos side of the battery, if the jeep dies it is the alternator, if it keeps running it is the battery...

All you f#%ing hemi people always have the solution, don't you...

I am going to get a new battery since it is less than 1 year old, and 3 year replacement. Leaking acid through the cover, middle of positive side. Saw it bubbling out... Hopefully tomorrow I can get to autozone for the free alt testing, and see what they say.

OK. Battery, starter, and altenator checked out ok. Plugged everything back in and no problems now...

Thinking it might have been corrosion on the terminal seperating it from the wire...

ZIR, try cutting the insulation back on your positive cable near the battery terminal to see if the corrosion has travelled up and concentrated. if so your not going to get good connection to either the battery or the alternator. check for corrosion underneath the connection at starter. good luck.

Send a message via Yahoo to rob4607

I wouldn't do the old remove the battery terminal while running, I know it is a big no no on outboards, I had to buy 2 computers because I did this testing the charging on the boat motors. I was told the voltage spike is really high and can and will fry many things so with the wonderful cunbus system be careful. I know boat engine and jeep gerbil power is two different things but 12v electronics are the same no matter on land or sea. Just trying to help.

x2 on this, it does mess up some cars, not saying it will on a jeep but if you have a voltmeter (not a test light) its just as easy to test with that. with jeep off measure voltage at battery, start jeep, voltage should jump up to around 14ish if it stays the same give it a little rev, if it still doesnt move the alt not working

Update...
Was running fine until 30 min ago...
Again was hit with no start and as soon as I'd turn the key it said nofuse and death. That was until I popped the hood. Incessant clicking from the relay box. Removed the relay and replaced it an it started clicking again. Removed ALL fuses and replaced all, and still nothing. So I moved up the power chain and wiggled the neg. Small improvement, but I knew it was now the pos. Gave it a small bump and I got normal starting procedure sounds. Went to try and start and killed i again. Got pissed and TWISTED the connector on the terminal (used a lot of force) and tried again and viola! Gonna go to the auto part store for new connectors.

Looking for something like:
