Stock radio terrible reception

So I've had the worst reception with my stock radio since the day i got it home 2 weeks ago. I bought a used 2014 and when i purchased it, i noticed the antenna was missing. im guessing the previous owner put a stubby on it and decided he wanted that 15 bucks back when he sold the jeep. brought it to the dealer's attention and had one by the time i took it home. I'm guessing they grabbed one off another JK on the lot.

the problem is, the reception is dog shit. seriously terrible. ive removed the radio and checked the antenna connection as well as the wire for any pinches. there are none. i even went as far as reroute the wire away from the rest of the wiring it was zip tied to behind the glove box to try and get it away from any wires that may be causing interference. still nothing. and yes, the antenna is screwed in nice and tight.

I've got a new stubby antenna coming in a few days (was going to replace anyway in preparation for windshield lights, so i'm hoping it's just a crappy antenna, but am wondering if it is the wire itself maybe. also wondering if the inside of the antenna port where the antenna screws in got corroded or something while it sat on the lot with no antenna. anything i could clean it out with?

ive had 2 other jks and never had this problem. i live in the middle of atlanta, so it has nothing to due with proximity to the towers and it happens on every station. any thoughts?

Life's hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

Mine sucks too. Especially on the AM channels. Ive just learned to live with it since Ive got Sirius on mine but getting the traffic reports would be nice after work.
