Jeep Caught On Fire....Holy Crap Dude!!!

This is my buddies jeep. He discovered it last night while investigating an odd smell in the house. I have no real details, all i know is that this should not happen. He had no electrical mods and luckily the hard top was on so the fire was smothered out. His jeep stays in the garage most of the time because he has a company car. Lucky the house didnt go up.

Wow yeah keep us updated. Thank goodness it didn't take off, he is very fortunate.

I have a friend who had a Ford Expedition. It got the "Ford truck fire" bug before he got the recall fix done. Burned up in his driveway. He came out and saw it, said there were easily 20 ft flames.

I hope that is the case. I'd hate to think it did this on it's own.

Why didn't he post this here on his own?

If it was outside the leaky hardtop would have put it out.

On the serious....glad it went out before damage to the house.

You know when I was under the dash running foot well lights I noticed some of the stuff down there gets pretty damn hot it kinda worried me... I guess this just proves it and we need to be careful. Could have been a random piece of paper or a receipt or something that got up in there and caught fire.

I had the same thing happen to a car 10 years ago. Went to play golf with the wife, came back and she asked when I got my windows tinted... Amazing the dash and sun shades look just like mine did. It was a faulty cig adapter for the cell phone. I never leave anything pluged in again when I get out of the car...

maybe the gremlins were getting cold and turned the heater on all the way to the red.

the above is most likely irrelevant.

This is the only one I have ever seen that the dash caught fire like that.

Being that you park your jeep in the swimming pool (I heard) you wont EVER have to worry about this.
