Question red light

on the dash there is a solid red light above the temp gauge (far right side)

Sometimes when i go to get in (click the button on the key to unlock the door, if this matters)

and before i put the key in the red light is on. After i start up the jeep the light goes off.

This does not happen all the time.

Why does it do this?

I have the power group so have the factory alarm. On mine, this light blinks every two seconds when the Jeep is locked and the alarm is armed. When I unlock, then turn the key to on, the red light goes solid for a few seconds or until I start the Jeep, then it goes out. If the Jeep is unlocked, it stays off.

Thanks for the reply... i figured it had to do something with the alarm.

Mine does the same thing... blinking and all... but sometimes the light is solid when i enter the jeep and sometimes is completely off...which is puzzling, since i'm not doing anything different.

mine does the same.

i always wonder if someone was screwing with the jeep when the light stay solid.

the above is most likely irrelevant.

Send a message via Yahoo to rob4607

yup its the alarm led. know take a wire from your hood pin switch and tie it in to your wire for the dome light right at the pop of side dash panel (purple with black strip if I remember correct). that way if someone opens your hood the actual alarm will go off.

According to the owners manual, the horn will sound three times when you unlock if the alarm has gone off while you were away.

The light staying on or doing something weird may be an indication of a possible problem with the security system.
