MM's Pod

Okay, I give credit where it's due, this lighting control setup is ZJR's design, and this is my modification I had to do due to my recent install of my RiverRaider Snorkel. All info on the original design can be found on a search for "EF's Pod"

The following are my changes:
When I installed my RROR snorkel, I had to rotate the battery 90 Degrees to allow for the intake to come into the engine bay from the snorkel.

This is where I had the original EF's Pod

As you can see, it will not fit where the new battery location is. As of this date with the sh!tty weather and me getting home until well after dark, I have not installed this new product yet. I have, however test fitted the new "brain" and it will fit under the hose at the front fender side of the battery compartment. This picture shows the routing of the intake hose from the snorkel.

Here is the old

And new "brain"

My main changes are the following, hence, the name change to the MM's Pod: (1)I changed the fuses from Tombstone type in in-line fuse holders that protrude onto the outside of the unit to cartridge type that are contained in the unit for space purposes.
(2)Because the fuses are now inside the unit, if they ever blew, I needed longer control and feeder wires so I can remove the whole unit and set it near the fender and change fuses.
(3)Dusttight fittings for the individual load wires. I will post later about these but I've already spent longer on this post than I wanted to.

Here are the pictures from my bullet points in RED. (2) is above with the long wires.

(1)

More to come...

MM

Just when they think they have all the answers, I go and change the question.

Nah- all wire is up to its ampacity rating for the circuits, I have a 150 amp main breaker fed from #4 Gague wire, and if anything gets too "hot" it will blow the fuse-just like its supposed to!

Just when they think they have all the answers, I go and change the question.

Very nice. At some point I am going to try to make one on a board, and make it much smaller...

And after wheeling with TKOB, I am sure I want the AEV snorkel (can be turned backward) so this won't bother me, until I need the dual battery setup.

Yeah, wheeling with TKOB will make you want to slap some mods on...hence my RR snorkel. I installed the brain in a hasty fashion last Sat. due to an oncoming snow storm. Still working out all the details for the final location for a terminal block to clean up the wires around the battery.

Just when they think they have all the answers, I go and change the question.

Ummm... After wheeling, I learned that the snorkel needs to be able to turn around... He almost hydro'ed with the RR.
