In Dash Compass is not accurate

I've noticed recently that my in-dash compass is not accurate. I know Im going south, plus my Garmin shows south...yet my in-dash compass shows NW.. just curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. I did install a daystar top dash storage system a while ago, but I only notice the compass discrepancy a few weeks ago.

Well the compass thingy sits under old plasic piece you replaced. Just make sure it is sitting the same way as it was on the old piece (not sure if it matters though, but just for sh!ts and giggles)

Mine is whacked out too. I have the Daystar dash tray also, and frequently keep my cell phone up there, but the compass is off regardless of the cell phone being there now. There is a procedure to reset the compass in the owners manual, but I am guessing that continuing to put cell phone's, etc up there, will continue to cause interference.

Mine works fine EXCEPT when I put my phone in the Daystar tray and then it goes crazy.

Ahh the cell phone, I will have to check it out see if there is a difference with the cell phone up there and without it. I don't keep anything else up there. I have my Garmin GPS mount on the windshield halfway up between the rear view and daystar dash. The only other thing I have in the area is my Cobra 75 CB mount, but that is to the right of the radio.

Well, as mentioned in this thread it was the cell phone...Im heading west and the compass shows W. I put the cell phone on the daystar dash, and within 15 secs it jumps to NW. I take it the phone down back to W.

Glad to see your compass is working, but did you have to get up at 4am to test it or is your time zone out of wack also...

Or the magnet in a CB speaker.. A few people found that out when they mounted it on the top of the dash..
